Top Wedding Trends for 2025 – What’s In & What’s Out

unplugged wedding

Weddings, just like fashion, come with trends that change every year. Regardless of you wanting to follow the 2025 wedding trends, you probably can’t escape seeing them all over your feed. So we made it easy on you and listed them in one go. See it as a guideline to get inspired – but not as a MUST for your wedding. You do you!

1. Microweddings and intimate celebrations

Besides the fact that this website focuses completely on that, it also happens to be on the rise in 2025! Why? Cause bigger isn’t always necessarily better. More and more couples are opting for intimacy over grand gestures. Small, personalised and meaningful weddings with close family and friends rather than large and expensive receptions. You get more flexibility as a couple, and more quality time with your guests and with each other.

2. Destination weddings and multi-day celebrations

Why only have one big day when you can have multiple? This year we see a lot of couples go big in a very different way! It’s like a wedding weekend (and a mini-vacation) for you and your guests. Couples are hosting welcome parties, boat trips around the island, adventure excursions and farewell brunches. A wedding of one day evolved in a whole experience!

3. Sustainable choices

Events in general are known to be not-so-eco-friendly. But your wedding can be. There are plenty of ways to make more sustainable choices. This year we see couples going for ethical sourced jewelry (like lab-grown diamonds), seasonal menus, digital invites and much more. Choices that are not only friendly for your wallet, but also much healthier for the environment.

4. Non-Traditional & unique fashion

Getting married in a classic white bridal gown is still the number one choice among brides. In 2025, however, brides are breaking free from traditional ways and go for bold statements that reflect their personality. From pantsuits to jumpsuits, more colours and even black.* Think statement pieces like gloves, pearls, personalised shoes (even sneakers) and much more!

5. Unplugged weddings

You wouldn’t want half of your ceremony pictures to be blocked with phones. Not only will the photographer have difficulties capture the emotions of your guests, your guests will also be less present. One way to change this, is with unplugged ceremonies and receptions. Have your celebrant announce it at the beginning of the ceremony and let your photographer handle the rest.
PS: we do recommend announcing that your guests will get access to the photos afterwards! Just to avoid any confusion (or people sneaking around with their phones).

6. Personalised wedding entertainment

In micro weddings, personalisation is key. And that extends as far as the wedding entertainment. In 2025 the most popular demands are for live wedding paintings and wedding guest illustrations. Yep, personalised art, how cool is that? Imagine having personalised illustrations for each and everyone of your guests to take home as a keepsake. Or how about a live painting of your ceremony or reception? If this is something you love, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We would love to connect you with our amazing network of local vendors in Malta!

Personal Bar Sign

Another winner this year, is the personalised bar sign, especially for petlovers. Pets that can’t be part of your big day can be present in other ways. Let them add their twist to your signature cocktail list, or even have them printed on personalised napkins. On Etsy you can find a bunch of these, but we can personalise anything you want, right here in Malta!

7. Drapes and curtains

A trend that’s making it’s big entry (but in reality just came back from a small vacation), is drapes! You heard that right. In a list full of out-of-the-box & non-traditional wedding ideas, this timeless, classic trend is making a comeback. With wedding drapery you can dress up the most basic wedding venue and bring it to the next level. It makes your venue feel very vieux-riche, elegant and sophisticated, without actually breaking the bank. Exactly why we love this trend so much!

8. guestbook with a twist

audio guestbook

A fan-favourite that continues to be a trend this year, is the audio guestbook. Rather than offering a written message, more and more couples go for spoken messages from their guests. All recorded on an old phone, just like a voicemail. This can be paired with a list of ideas, like marriage advice, date-night ideas or just a sweet/drunk message.

PS: We rent out our very own audio guestbook! Are you looking to rent one for your wedding? Get in touch!

9. Unconventional venues

Especially for micro-weddings, this is a big one. In Malta, with weddings typically being very big, you need to get creative with venues. You don’t want to drown in a massive hall, but you also don’t want to be tucked away in a room either. That’s why a lot of couples are transitioning from traditional venues to restaurants! In Malta you can find a lot of cute and small restaurants that can exclusively cater for your wedding. Because why wouldn’t you be able to rent out your favourite restaurant for your wedding? Open-air receptions, gardens and even the beach also score high in Malta. You need to coordinate a little bit more, but nothing is impossible for your big day!

Authenticity, personalisation and creating unforgettable memories are key in 2025. Whether you dream of a luxury micro wedding in Malta or a laid-back elopement, the most important thing is that it feels right for you.
