If you’re in the middle of planning your own wedding, you have probably figured out that weddings don’t come cheap. But what if we tell you, you don’t need to compromise on your Pinterest-wedding without overspending? Let’s dive into it!
1. Minimise your guest list
Did you know that weddings in Malta on average cost € 120 per person? So less guests mean more budget per guest. It not only adds to the luxuriousness of your event, but it also makes everything much more exclusive and intimate. Small wedding venues can be a challenge in Malta as most venues cater for bigger parties, but we created the ultimate list to help you check this off the list.
2. Off peak wedding dates
Did you know venues often have better prices when you get married outside of wedding season? Not only that, but you will have more options for vendors (even when booking closer to the date or last minute) and have a better chance negotiating with them.
Off-peak wedding season stretches from October until May (with the exception of the holidays). If you want to have a bigger succesrate with the weather and you’d like to enjoy some of Malta’s nicest temperatures, April, May and October will give you exactly that.
Besides off-peak, a big difference in price can also be found in weekdays versus weekend. Some vendors even have special promotions during weekdays with discounts on food, free cake, and 1/3 of the price for the venue. Don’t worry, we have already done all the research! Book a consultation with us to secure the best price for your wedding!
3. Rent instead of buying
Renting decor and equipment in Malta can sometimes be more expensive than buying it. However, most event rental companies are focussed on big weddings, making it a lot more cost-efficient. This is mainly due to the fact that setting up is included in this rental fee, something you would lose more time with setting up yourself. However, when you’re opting for a small wedding, renting from these bigger companies doesn’t make sense.
Because we at Micro Weddings Malta cater specifically and only for smaller weddings, we can keep our costs lower and more competitive, making renting with us a better match for your intimate wedding. If you are comfortable with planning your own wedding, but you want to have a look at our rental-options, get in touch to set up a free consultation.
We offer a range of products from audio guestbooks, to custom wedding signage, DIY decor solutions and much more.
4. The myth of DIY’s
Although it might seem straightforward that DIY or Do It Yourself is cheaper than hiring or buying a service, it’s not always the case. Making decor and creating personalised items are an amazing way to maximise the enjoyment of weddingplanning (if crafting is your thing). Just don’t forget that supplies cost money as well and prices can go up quicker than you think. We have a range of DIY projects that can be altered for your needs, and the best part of it all: what we don’t have, we can outsource or purchase for you.
5. Minimalistic = chic
Flowers are one of the biggest and most underrated expenses for a wedding. If you choose a venue that has a lot of outdoor space or you go for a beach-wedding, most of this cost can already be limited. When the venue needs to do all the work, creativity is key.
Bouquets used for the ceremony can be reused as centerpieces for example. In 2025 we see less big bouquets as flower arrangements. Opt for single flower vases rather than whole arrangements for your tables. This will not only save you money, but will also give your wedding a timeless and minimalistic vibe.

6. Hire a wedding consultant
Rather than going for a full-service wedding planner, hiring a wedding consultant can drop your costs significantly. Like this you get expert advice, planning assistance and recommendations without paying for a full package. This will not only save you money, but also a lot of stress and research you’ll be spared of with a professional by your side.
At Micro Weddings Malta we personalise and tailor our services to your needs. Whether you need our full-service and us to be on stand-by at your wedding or help you puzzle the pieces together on the sidelines, we got your back!
